Thanksgiving seemed to come early this year and now we are sliding head long into Hanukkah, Christmas, and the New Year! Time to break out the tinsel and get some retail therapy going on! Murphy and the surrounding towns of Andrews and Blairsville and Blue Ridge each celebrate the beginning of the season just a bit differently. Most have parades and tree lightings early in December. So pick a town and go see a small town parade and tree lighting! There’s nothing quite like a small town parade! Here are several you could to choose to attend:
Helen Christmas Parade December 8, Blairsville Christmas Parade December 1, and
Murphy Christmas Parade, December 1. It’s a full day of activities and it’s a NIGHT PARADE!
Andrews Christmas Parade is also a night time parade! Dec 8 at 5:30 PM the festivities begin! Also on December 1, is the Christmas Parade in McCaysville/Copperhill TN. So choose a location and go enjoy the quaintness of a small town gathering. I’ll bet Santa is as all of these events!
Dahlonega Walking Tours are something a bit different in Dahlonega, a Boos and Brews Pub Crawl! They also have wine tours with stories of the community and its resident ghosts! I like the things to do that are just a bit off the beaten path! Also there is Dahlonega's Old Fashioned Christmas ! Dahlonega is known for being a Christmas Town and begin their season with a parade on December 1 as well. All month long are events as well as the entire town is decorated with beautiful lights and there is even a horse drawn carriage for a winter ride! Check out this article on why Dahlonega is the ultimate Christmas town!

This is just past Blairsville and is a beautiful setting any time of year. Bring a toy to benefit the Union County Sheriffs Dept!
Blairsville Tour of Trees! This goes on for most of the month of December. Stop and see the beautifully decorated trees and maybe get on ideas for your own tree and wreath!
