Summertime in the Mountains!

Summertime! 2022

Welcome to summer in the mountains of Western North Carolina! If you have visited our area lately (or ever) I want to remind you of some of the things to do in our community and those surrounding us.

Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds has events all year round! This weekend is the rodeo and it runs for 3 days. This is a world class event! As the summer goes on, we also have rodeos in Hayesville at the Cutworm Corral and at Union County Saddle club. These are fun events for everyone!

If rodeo isn’t your thing, check out all the hiking trails around the area. Hop on the Appalachian Trail at any number of places and do a section or two. The Benton-MacKay Trail is very close also and can be accessed at several places nearby. Piney Knob Trails are just across from our casino, and are great hike as is Hanging Dog recreation area out Joe Brown Hwy. And waterfalls abound here! Hike in to a more remote falls or you can simple drive by to view many! The mountains truly do have something for everyone.

Let’s talk restaurants and food for a moment. We have many fine eateries locally and in the surrounding areas. Shoebooties, Chevelles, Bistro 29, Perrones, The Crown (Brasstown), Enricos (Young Harris) Legends, Parsons Pub, Red Brick Deli, Valley River Brewery. Many, many more in the surrounding communities from sushi to gluten free to steakhouses to breweries and wineries! There’s something for everyone! Even the pups have a place called Buzzed Brew Coffeehouse in downtown Murphy!

Shopping you ask? We have lots of shopping and Downtown Murphy has plenty of places for beautiful clothing as well as antiquing, and interior decorations. Search out: Black and White Market, Carolina Crafting, The Marketplace, Glitz & Glamor and the Serenity Mountain Gift shop! All these local business owners need our patronage and I hope you will visit one or all while you’re here.

Real estate is still hot in this area and for those of us who call this place home, we can understand why! Good people, beautiful mountain vistas, waterfalls, hiking, boating, fishing and access to healthcare are many of the reasons folks choose this area. Big cities may be good for some but those that choose the mountains have found something special in my humble opinion.

Call me for all your real estate needs! It’s time to take that next step into your Western North Carolina mountain future!
