SPRING SHOWERS!

February Showers…

If April showers bring May flowers…what do February showers bring in March? Why the Georgia Wine Highway of course! Georgia Wine Events is the place to check out this year’s lineup for the Saturday March 23 kick off to begin the week of tastings! I believe there are 22 wineries that participate in this event. You have all week to try a variety of wines and find that special place to visit time and time again. All are in Georgia and all within 2 hours or less driving time. Please designate a driver if you plan to make a day or two of it! Begin at any of the participating wineries and buy your glass for $50. You will receive a “passport” with a list of all the places you can go, and with that glass in hand; try several wines at each for free! They will punch your “passport” as you can only visit each winery once during the highway week. Make good notes and return to the places you love the most! I love Fainting Goat mostly for their view from the porch. Then there is Hightower that serves wine slushies, and Crane Creek over in Young Harris, and Chateau Meichtry has live music and super outdoor seating area. So this marvelous week celebrating the grape is a great chance to see the country side and some absolutely beautiful places to drink some excellent wine!

February showers also bring St Patty’s Day! The Town of Blue Ridge has a parade on March 16 beginning at 11 am. Our own town of Murphy has Parson Pub where you can celebrate the luck of the Irish! Our own Cherokee Scout's list of events for St Patty's Day will provide several options for those looking for green beer and a leprechaun or two!

Now for something completely different!

Persimmon creek trout and gem This sweet little place is west on the 4 lane towards Ducktown. Just a fun place for the whole family! Gem mine and fish for your dinner! Run by a young family and a really cool place to visit!

It’s never too early to plan your holiday visit to the mountains of Western North Carolina! In fact, if you’re thinking of doing one of the several polar/Santa express trains, NOW is the time to make your reservations! gsmr.com/train-schedule here. Blue Ridge Scenic Railway tickets here. Tennessee Valley Railroad. The trains run beginning in the spring and well into the fall and winter. Any time of year is a great time to take the train!

Mercier Orchards Is one of those places that are always fun to visit. Great food in their restaurant, fried pies, everything apples, and their own hard ciders and wines! They have a super gift store area and an in store bakery. So there is always something to see and taste at this place in Blue Ridge.

Soon the farmers markets will be opening and the craft shows will be starting. Trees are already blooming as they must have no idea the cold snap is coming this weekend!

I hope you will visit my website, Your Mountain Dreams

And share it with your friends! You can look at our local MLS and find homes in all price ranges and styles as well as land and lots for sale. The Mountains are calling you must come and visit!
