Calling The Train Home

This is history in the making! On Friday night Oct 5th in Downtown Murphy there will be an effort to set a World Record for the number of people all whistling the same song! At our regular Art Walk (first Friday of each month through the summer) people will gather to “Call the Train Home”! Read about some of the history here: Great Smokey Mountain Railroad Learn about how the former railway was used to open the area and during the years that the Fontana Dam was built. I believe with the coming of the train BACK to Murphy, we could see revitalization of our downtown area and beyond! Guests of the train would hopefully spend time and money in our community, eating in our restaurants and visiting our local stores. It should be interesting to see how it all plays out. I hope, if you are in town, you will join the local folks to Call the Train Home!

More info on the train: WNC Train

Trains, Trains, and More Trains!

I’ve got a couple of sites for other train rides to view our fall foliage. Some serve food and beverages! Leaf Peeper Trains! Great Smokies Railroad, GSMR Train Schedule, and the Copperhil Train Schedule.
